1 in 5 women have mental health problems in pregnancy or the year after birth

I am a private consultant perinatal psychiatrist. I have been providing care and treatment for women with mental health problems in pregnancy and after birth for over 20 years. I can help you plan the care you need during and after pregnancy, including making decisions about using medication. This will help you stay well and enjoy your baby.

"It’s not always easy to ask for help and even more difficult to admit to oneself that you really do need help. For anyone in this situation I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Lucinda Green. Lucinda is an extremely approachable, kind, considerate, knowledgeable and professional psychiatrist.

"Dr Green is one of the most knowledgeable, efficient and caring doctors I have worked with. She goes above and beyond for her patients and believes in providing evidence based effective care."

The “perinatal period” refers to the time from when a woman starts to plan a pregnancy, the pregnancy itself, the birth and the first year after your baby is born.

I offer assessment and treatment for women aged 18 and over with a range of mental health problems in the perinatal period and beyond. I also see women who are currently well but who have had a previous severe mental illness and want to make a plan to ensure they stay as well as possible in pregnancy and after birth.

This includes women with the following:

  • Depression - including current or previous antenatal depression and postnatal depression

  • Anxiety Disorders

  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

  • Bipolar Affective Disorder

  • Schizophrenia

  • Schizoaffective Disorder

  • Other psychotic illness

  • Personality Disorder

  • Mental health problems associated with pregnancy related complications, pregnancy loss and infertility

  • The Portland Hospital
